Dishwasher Powder Recipe

Dishwasher Powder Recipe

Three ingredients. One very simple dishwasher powder.
No fragrance, colours or complicated extras. Just three hardworking ingredients for an easy low-tox swap you can make at home.

Ingredients:

500 g batch

  • 275 g Washing Soda
  • 150 g Sodium Percarbonate
  • 75 g Sodium Bicarbonate

Equipment

• Mixing bowl
• Spoon
• Airtight jar
• Measuring cup

Instructions

  1. Add the washing soda, sodium bicarbonate and sodium percarbonate to a dry mixing bowl.
  2. Transfer into a clean, dry airtight jar.
  3. Label your jar and store it away from moisture.

To Use

Add 1 tablespoon to your dishwasher powder compartment.

For heavier loads, use up to 2 tablespoons.

Good to Know

This DIY version is best used as a simple low tox dishwasher powder. It may not perform exactly like a commercial dishwasher powder because it does not contain enzymes, anti spotting agents or glass protection minerals.

For the strongest result, scrape plates well before loading and use vinegar as your dishwasher rinse aid.

Tip

Keep the jar completely dry.
