Benefits of Colostrum

The gut lining acts like a protective barrier, helping absorb nutrients while keeping unwanted particles, microbes and toxins out of the bloodstream. When this barrier is under stress, it can become more permeable, which is why supporting intestinal barrier integrity is a key part of overall gut health.

Bovine colostrum contains naturally occurring compounds such as immunoglobulins, lactoferrin and growth factors, which may help support the gut lining and digestive resilience. Clinical research, particularly in athletes and people with increased intestinal permeability, suggests bovine colostrum supplementation can help reduce gut permeability and support barrier function.

Colostrum is the very first nourishment mammals produce after giving birth, before regular milk comes in. It’s made for a short window of time, when newborns need concentrated nutrition and immune support most. That’s what makes colostrum so special. It’s a naturally nutrient-rich whole food, containing a unique mix of bioactive compounds, including:

• Immunoglobulins, including IgG, IgM and IgA
• Growth factors, including IGF-1, IGF-2 and TGF-beta
• Prebiotic oligosaccharides
• Proline-rich polypeptides
• Lactoferrin
• Plus naturally occurring vitamins, minerals and nutrients

IgG (Immunoglobulin G) is a naturally occurring antibody found in colostrum.

It’s one of the key bioactive compounds in bovine colostrum and is commonly used as a quality marker.

“20%+ IgG” means the colostrum contains at least 20% immunoglobulin G by composition.

Chief Colostrum typically tests around 21.9% IgG.

Our recommended serving size is 1 scoop (3 g) daily.

Consistency matters more than timing. Many people prefer taking it:

• In the morning
• Around training
• Between meals

You can have it with cold water or add to your smoothies, yoghurt, etc.

We generally recommend avoiding very hot liquids. Excessive heat may affect some naturally occurring bioactive compounds in colostrum.

Warm drinks are generally preferred over boiling temperatures.

Some people choose to take multiple serves depending on their routine and goals. However, consistency tends to matter more than very high intakes.
